Woking Borough Council is considering whether to increase or reduce fees at Victoria Way’s Blue, Yellow and Red multi-story car parks near the Peacocks shopping centre.

A range of options are being considered including removing the first half-hour charge and replacing it with £1 for the first hour, coupled with revising the remaining hourly tariff down from £1.10 to £1

Drivers currently pay 60p for the first half-hour, £1.10 for an hour, followed by £1.10 for every hour after that.

Removing the first 30-minute charge could net the council up to an extra £61,600 a year. It has been reported that figures from the car parks showed a drop in the number of short-term ticket sales from 107,584 in April 2009 to 105,698 at the same point this year.
