'The Price of Love'

Emperor of Rome, Claudius the Cruel,
pulled up his chariot to fill up with fuel.
"I'll have four sacks of hay serf, to feed my fine steeds,
and don't palm me off with bad oats or crushed reeds,
the price of fuel seems to rise every day,
I'll claim it back on expenses, then I won't have to pay!"

A crack of the whip, a command to 'walk on'
a blink of the eye, and then he was gone,
back through the gates of the city of Rome
he pulled up his chariot outside his fine home.
"Gather the people this instant," he roared,
"I want all to attend, from a serf to a lord,
I must have more soldiers to fight for the cause,
to die if I tell them, in my ****** wars!"

When the legions were struggling, the men would revolt
and not leave their families, he thought Love was at fault.

"From this day all weddings are banned,
including engagements within Romes fine land,
If any priest defies my command,
he'll be punished accordingly at my command!"

Saint Valentine and Saint Marius defied every rule,
they married young couples, to deny love is so cruel!
Saint Valentine was arrested, then sentenced to death;
He wrote letters of love till he drew his last breath,
to his sweetheart named Julia, a bling girl so divine,
he always finished his notes with: 'From your Valentine'

On February 14th they chopped off his head;
So send a note to your sweetheart to show Love is not dead.
