Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses after two men were robbed of their wallets and mobile phones in Woking yesterday evening (December 19).

The robbery took place around 5-15 pm as the two men were walking along Grove Road. They were approached from behind by five men, who attacked them, punching them repeatedly to the head and upper body. The two men suffered severe cuts and bruising to their faces. Meanwhile, the offenders escaped with a wallet and mobile phone from the two victims.

Detective Constable Mark Fordham, who is investigating the incident, said: "At this time it is not known if the offenders had been waiting on Grove Road or followed the victims, who left from the Peacocks Centre and walked via Barclays Bank across Victoria Road onto Chobham Road. There is also a possibility that the offenders were seen running along Chertsey Road five minutes later. They are described as young men of Asian appearance wearing hooded tops and scarves. One of the attackers was also wearing a distinctive black and white checked scarf.

"I would urge anyone who saw the incident or anyone with any information about the identity of the offenders, to come forward as soon as possible and help us progress the investigation."

If you can help, please contact DC Fordham on 101, quoting crime reference WK/11/8527 or, if you prefer to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
