A THIEF who stole women's make-up from a chemist store has been jailed for almost a year.

Syed Masud Miah was arrested and charged after he targeted a chemist in Commercial Way, Woking, on August 22.

Miah, 30, of no fixed abode, was found to have £130 of beauty products after he was caught by security guards at Woking railway station.

While in custody he was arrested for a further five theft offences and appeared at South West Surrey Magistrates Court on August 23 where he pleaded guilty to the thefts.

He was sentenced to serve 50 weeks in prison.

Constable Chris Potts from the Woking neighbourhood team said: "I am delighted the quick response of the Woking town security officers has led to an individual being charged and jailed for these offences.

"These were planned offences which targeted a well known business in the town."
