A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after another man was found in a car with serious head injuries in the St John's area of Woking.

A police cordon was in place around a car park in St John's Lye where the victim, a man in his 40s, was found in a silver Toyota at 2pm on Tuesday (April 30).

He was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London.

The suspect, also aged in his 40s, was located in a nearby toilet block and was taken into police custody.

Detective Sergeant Sherren Smith is appealing for witnesses to the incident. She said: "There were a number of people out enjoying the sunshine on the lye around the time of this offence and I would urge anyone with any information relating to this vicious assault to call Surrey Police urgently. This type of violence will not be tolerated in our neighbourhoods and I would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference P13124951. Alternatively the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
