Man charged after Knaphill police shooting

A MAN has appeared before magistrates following reports of an armed gunman who threatened to harm himself and others in Knaphill.

A man has been charged following the firearms incident in Knaphill in July.
Richard Pell, 41, of Oak Tree Road, Knaphill has been charged with threats to kill, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and communicating false information about a hoax bomb.
The incident took place at an address in Oak Tree Road, Knaphill in Woking on July 25.
Homes were evacuated and a man in his 40s was shot by police as the drama unfolded around 10pm.
The man was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting in a critical but stable condition.
Pell has been remanded in custody after appearing at South West Surrey Magistrates' Court in Guildford today (September 15).
He will appear at Guildford Crown Court on October 4.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC)'s investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
