Horsell Village School and Maybury School closed due to burst water main

SOME schools in Woking have closed today (Thursday September 27) due to a burst water main in the local area.

Parents at Horsell Village School, in Church Hill, and at Maybury Primary School in Walton Road are being told not to bring their child to the schools.

A statement on Horsell Village School's website said: "Unfortunately we have to close the school today Thursday 27th September 2012 due to a burst water main in the local area. 

"This had resulted in us having no water supply. For Health and Safety reasons we are sure you will appreciate that without toilet facilities we cannot accommodate the children today. 

"We will update you with further details as soon as possible."

Salesian School in Chertsey is closed to years 7-11 but remains open for VI Formers.

Part of the A320 Guildford Road is closed between Sir William Perkin's School and the A317 St Peter's Way junction  due to the burst water main and heavy rain, causing traffic disruptions. The pavement has also collapsed.

Hundreds of homes' water supplies have also been affected by the burst pipe.

Horsell Junior School is open as normal.Horsell Junior School said on its website: "At this time the school has a water supply therefore we are open."
