ATHLETICS: TEN Croydon Harriers took to the ParkRun circuit this weekend in their final preparations for the winter season opening Surrey Cross-Country League fixtures at Lightwater Park in Woking next weekend, writes Matthew Kiernan.

Omar Harhara's fine-tuning went perfectly after winning the hotly contested monthly under-15s ParkRun at Bushy Park.

At Roundshaw Downs, three promising under-13 girls made the top four in the women's race, with lifetime bests for runner-up Josie Kavanagh (22.54) and third placed Ellie McCormack (23.10). Abbie Burrett closely followed in fourth in 23.43, with Kim Heamans (33rd, 32.03) and Ellie Burrett (39th, 35.03) also in action.

Elsewhere, 14-year-old Holly Haile was fifth woman home at the Lloyd ParkRun, while Miklos Foldes (8th, 20.37) also enjoyed a top 10 finish at the Crystal Palace ParkRun.
